Degrees conferred

East Stroudsburg University: Aimee Benulis of Schuylkill Haven, Master of Education in reading; Emmeline Knowlan of New Ringgold, Master of Arts in communication; Julia Kutz of Pottsville, Master of Science in communication sciences and disorders; Samantha Kutza of Auburn, Bachelor of Science in digital media technologies; Madison Kutza of Auburn, Bachelor of Science in hotel restaurant and tourism management.

Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine: Scott Delenick, of Pottsville; Rebecca Petlansky, of Auburn, received Doctor of Medicine degrees.

Honor Society

Lebanon Valley College: Kaitlyn Ruhl of Schuylkill Haven,  pursuing a bachelor of science in early childhood education and special education was inducted into its chapter of Sigma Alpha Pi honor society. Caleb Gonder, of Williamstown, pursuing a bachelor of arts in political science, was inducted into its chapter of Sigma Alpha Pi honor society. Abigail Sausser, of Schuylkill Haven, was inducted into Delta Alpha Pi, an academic honor society for students with disabilities.

University of Scranton: Emily Amershek, of New Ringgold, was inducted into Alpha Sigma Nu, the national Jesuit honor society.

Academic and Creative Work Displayed

Albright College: Alyssa Zerbe, of Pine Grove, presented original artwork for the Freedman Gallery’s annual juried student exhibit. Zerbe’s artwork included “Ginger I,” 2023, digital print, 14 x 11 inches; “One Cell Thick,” 2023, acrylic and gel medium on canvas, 30 x 24 inches; “Self (Diptych),” 2023, acrylic on panel, 20 x 16 inches, each; and “Insignificant,” 2022, graphite and charcoal on paper, 31 x 42 inches. Zerbe received Honorable Mention for “Insignificant.” Zerbe is studying art and psychology.

Lebanon Valley College: Valerie Bildheiser of Schuylkill Haven presented Why Are There So Few Women in Higher-Level Management? Tori Hunyara of Schuylkill Haven presented Predicting Grit Through Ascription of Responsibility and Other Modes of Thinking. Raegan Laszczyk of Tower City presented Dunc-13’s effect on alcohol sensitivity after traumatic brain injury and The Role of Tau on Acute Alcohol Consumption Post TBI. Shelby Moyer of Schuylkill Haven presented TchotchKey. Trey Reynolds of Pine Grove presented To Belong or Not to Belong: Examining the Perceptions and Value of a Pennsylvania Sociological Society Membership Among Sociologists. Brody Robinson of Schuylkill Haven explored why there are more men in blue-collar jobs. Emily Sausser of Schuylkill Haven presented Water Quality Issues Across Pennsylvania. Abigail Sausser of Schuylkill Haven presented Water Quality Issues Across Pennsylvania.

Senior Theses

Albright College: Stephanie Zolynski of Auburn will present her senior thesis. A graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School, Zolynski is studying psychobiology: molecular at Albright.

Academic Awards

Albright College:  Grace Andrefski of New Ringgold, Lisamarie Cope ’02 Memorial Prize for work helping women in poverty or victims of domestic violence. Stephanie Zolynski of Auburn, Psychobiology Award.
