Commute PA offering chance to win gift cards for taking green trips

Commute PA is calling on residents to consider greener transportation options in honor of Earth Day, and earn a chance at winning a $100 gift card.

In 2023, local commuters prevented over 800 tons of carbon dioxide emissions by choosing eco-friendly travel options, the organization said in a release.

Commute PA, formerly known as Commuter Services of Pennsylvania, is a regional nonprofit that aims to help people find greener transportation options.

In honor of Earth Day, the organization is inviting commuters to reduce their carbon footprint by trying a green commute mode: public transit, carpooling, vanpooling, biking, walking or telecommuting.

To make green commuting easier, Commute PA offers a free app that highlights public transit routes and gives users access to carpool companions.

The app also lets users record green trips for points that are redeemed for discounts and monthly drawings, and provides reimbursements for emergency rides home.

Travelers who record their trips in the Commute PA app throughout April will be entered into a drawing for three $100 Tango gift cards.

To be eligible to win, commuters must:

• Like one of Commuter Services’ social media pages on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or Twitter.

• Share one of Commute PA’s social media posts on three Fridays in April: 12, 19 and 26.

• Comment “shared” on the Friday posts to verify.

• Record at least five green commutes in their Commute PA account in April.

The randomly selected winners will each receive a $100 Tango gift card.

Winners will be announced at the beginning of May on Commute PA’s social media pages.

Commute PA can be downloaded from app stores. More information is available on the Commute PA website.

Commute PA is based in York. Funding is provided by the Federal Highway Administration through PennDOT and the region’s metropolitan planning organizations.
