Conrad Weiser falls to Big Spring in District 3 Class 4A football first-round game

Big Spring was carried by Dillon Wakefield and big plays by quarterback Ethan Eisenberg on its way to a 49-35 win over Conrad Weiser in a District 3 Class 4A first-round game in Robesonia on Friday night.

Big Spring scored early, taking a 6-0 lead on a 64-yard touchdown pass from Eisenberg to Connor Black.

The Scouts responded with a 2-yard run from quarterback Logan Klitsch. The touchdown was set up by a 42-yard pass from Klitsch to Aanjay Feliciano.

The first half continued to see each team trading scores, with Big Spring retaking the lead on a 28-yard pass from Eisenberg to Caleb Massare.

Klitsch and the Scouts responded with another touchdown, this time through the air. Klitsch found Feliciano for a 39-yard pass to tie it at 14-14.

Wakefield then reached the end zone for the first time a 3-yard run two minutes before halftime.

The Scouts retook the lead at 21-20 just before half on a 21-yard pass from Klitsch to Feliciano.

Big Spring’s big-play offense struck again to start the second half, with a 64-yard run from Eisenberg putting them ahead.

Big Spring scored again, this time on a 31-yard run by Wakefield following an interception by Tucker Lowery.

Klitsch threw his third touchdown pass of the night on the following possession, connecting with running back Cole Rothermel for a 46-yard score.

But Black answered with his second touchdown on a 6-yard catch.

Klitsch then threw his second interception of the night on the Scouts’ next possession.

Feliciano caught his third touchdown pass of the game in the fourth quarter to make it a one-score game. Feliciano caught nine passes for 135 yards and three touchdowns.

Wakefield put it away for Big Spring on a 12-yard run with four minutes left.

Klitsch completed 28 passes for 350 yards and four touchdowns with two interceptions. He also ran for 33 yards and one touchdown.

Wakefield carried the ball 22 times for 201 yards and three touchdowns.
