Conrad Weiser tennis coach Ryan Knarr named national high school coach of the year

Conrad Weiser boys and girls tennis coach Ryan Knarr has been named the 2021 United States Professional Tennis Association National High School Coach of the Year Wednesday at the USPTA’s world conference in Las Vegas. The award is given to the top high school coach in the nation.

“To be named the USPTA National High School Coach of the Year is one of the highest honors of my tennis career,” Knarr said. “I am humbled and grateful that of the thousands of high school tennis coaches nationally, that I was selected as the national coach of the year.”

Knarr is in his seventh year as head coach at Conrad Weiser, having led the Scouts boys and girls to a 175-45 overall record. He coached the doubles team of Emma Perkins and Alex Pancu to last year’s PIAA Class 2A doubles title.

In addition in 2020, the Weiser girls (17-1) won their second straight Berks team title, first District 3 team title and advanced to the PIAA quarterfinals. Perkins also won the Berks singles title and Perkins and Pancu won county and district doubles titles.

In the spring, the Weiser boys (22-3) won their first county team title, reached the District 3 Class 2A final and advanced to the PIAA Class 2A semifinals. Weiser’s doubles team of Jayden Lewis and Alex Waltz won the Berks title, finished second in District 3 Class 2A and reached the PIAA quarterfinals.

“I am blessed to have an amazing coaching staff, elite support from our school district and administration, and great collaboration with the USTA to give our players the best opportunities to be successful in all aspects of their lives on and off the court,” Knarr said.
