The Conrad Weiser Theatre Company (CWTC) proudly announced its formation this fall, coinciding with the 65th anniversary of Conrad Weiser High School Musicals. Led by Director Hope L. O’Pake, CWTC aims to unify and elevate all theatre arts at Conrad Weiser High School by offering not only musical theatre and dramatic play productions but also diverse opportunities, such as master classes, guest speakers, readers’ theatre, workshops, educational trips, cabarets, and concerts. Through these initiatives, students will have the chance to collaborate with local, regional, and national professionals, expanding their artistic development and real-world experience.
Their inaugural season concludes with Anastasia: The Musical on Friday, April 4, and Saturday, April 5. Join Anya, a young woman with a mysterious past, as she sets out to uncover her true identity. From the grandeur of the Russian Empire to the dazzling lights of 1920s Paris, Anastasia: The Musical, is a sweeping tale of love, destiny, and self-discovery, featuring a stunning score by Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, with a book by Terrence McNally. Performances will be on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now for just $10 in advance! “With the launch of the Conrad Weiser Theatre Company, we are opening the doors for students to explore their creativity, build confidence, and connect with our community through the power of performance. This is a wonderful opportunity for our young talent to shine, and we can’t wait to see the incredible stories they will bring to life,” said Dr. Ryan Giffing, Superintendent of the Conrad Weiser Area School District.
“We are excited about the possibilities the Conrad Weiser Theatre Company (CWTC) will bring. CWTC will offer our students increased opportunities to engage in all aspects of theatre on an ongoing basis,” said Robert Galtere, Principal of Conrad Weiser High School.
CWTC provides a safe, nurturing, and educational environment where students are empowered through the theatre arts to inspire positivity and growth within the community. Embracing diversity and fostering both personal and artistic development, CWTC aims to celebrate talents and opportunities for growth, enriching the Conrad Weiser community and beyond. Guided by core values — Acceptance, Accessibility, Authenticity, Collaboration, Community, Dedication, Diversity, Family, Inclusivity, Individuality, Inspiration, Mentoring, Opportunity, Teamwork, and Excellence in Entertainment — CWTC strives to create meaningful experiences for performers and audiences alike.
