Crews called to house fire in northern Berks

Fire crews were called to a house fire in Greenwich Township after 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

The first calls were sent about 8:15 p.m. for a house ablaze in the first block of Gilmore Road, according to emergency reports.

Crews arrived and began setting up equipment, reporting that about half the house was engulfed in flames, reporting emergency reports.

Numerous companies were called, including from Lehigh County, for tanker trucks to supply water.

Volunteers working inside the house were ordered to evacuate the building about 8:50 p.m. during the firefighting.

Multiple alarms were struck. A state police fire marshal was requested.
