Crews were called to the 8300 block of Chestnut Street in Hereford Township for a house fire Saturday morning.
The original dispatch shortly after 10 a.m. was for smoke from the roof. Crews made good progress and said the flames were knocked down by 10:30, according to emergency reports.
The chief on scene declared the fire under control by 10:40.
The nearby Route 100 was closed by fire police.

The fire was the latest call in what has been nearly a wall-to-wall run of an elevated level of emergency calls in recent days for ambulance and fire crews and those who dispatch them.
