DA releases ID, autopsy results for Pottsgrove High School students fatally shot in Pottstown

NORRISTOWN — Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Pottstown Police Chief Mick Markovich identified the victims in the Oct. 17, 2022, homicide in Pottstown. The deceased were 17-year-old Skyler Fox, of Stowe, and 18-year-old Brandon Baycote-Byer, of Lower Pottsgrove.

The homicide occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m., at Fourth and Johnson Streets. Pottstown Police responded to find the two deceased victims lying by Fox’s vehicle. Numerous fired cartridge casings, one projectile and a 9 mm handgun with an obliterated serial number were found at the scene.

An autopsy on each body was performed on Oct. 18, by forensic pathologist Dr. Julia De La Garza, with the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office. Dr. De La Garza ruled that both Fox and Baycote-Byer died of multiple gunshot wounds and the manner of death was homicide.
