PHILADELPHIA — Dak Prescott had seen enough.
Gear packed in his carry-on, “Girl Dad” baseball cap firmly tugged down on his forehead, the would-be Cowboys star quarterback who hasn’t played since Dallas’ eighth game of the season was making quick work of getting out of the small, ill-appointed Lincoln Financial Field visitors locker room.
Prescott, seemingly striding fine despite a hamstring tear suffered in November, would make enough time for a few reporters inquiring about his injury rehab progress, but made no secret of his desire to get out of South Philly Dodge after the 41-7 beatdown the Eagles had just put on Dallas.
“Very tough, very frustrating,” Prescott summarized of his experience of watching from a luxury box high above as his teammates were eventually steamrolled by the pending NFC East champions. “Especially in a place like this, my favorite place, probably, to play football besides AT&T (Stadium). So yeah, especially in this environment, I miss it.”
Although the Eagles’ offense got off to a slow start offensively – until backup quarterbacks Kenny Pickett and Tanner McKee warmed to the task in the second half and Saquon Barkley started churning en route to 167 rushing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season – Cowboys quarterback Cooper Rush often missed his marks against the Eagles.
All the while Prescott watched glumly from above.
“I’m supporting the teammates, obviously seeing the game … from a different view up there in the booth,” he said. “Getting a little bit of the coaches’ information the way they talk throughout the game, just a different view of it.
“Nobody plays to have a losing season, or to be in this position. You expect playoffs every year, you expect to win this division, you expect to be in this place or whether it’s at home playing this team, usually for the division.
“So if that’s not the case, it sucks and it’s frustrating.”
Nonetheless, Prescott indicated he’s looking forward to being back in time for offseason workouts in the spring.
“I’m starting to build up around it, I’m starting to gain some strength in it, starting to use it a little bit,” he said of the leg. “I’m probably a few weeks, maybe a month away from really running-running, but I got on the bike and I’m definitely doing some things moving on.”
