Diohnny Ruiz helps Hamburg rout York Tech in football opener

Diohnny Ruiz scored three touchdowns in the first half Saturday at York to lead Hamburg to a 47-20 win over York Tech is a season-opening, non-league football game.

Ruiz scored on runs of 58 and 15 yards and hauled in a pass from Xander Menapace for a 64-yard touchdown for the Hawks.

Ruiz finished with five carries for 109 yards and two catches for 73 yards.

Menapace also threw a 49-yard touchdown pass to Tristan Baer. Baer also scored on a 32-yard run for Hamburg, which led 33-6 at halftime.

Pierce Mason and Aiden Readinger also rushed for touchdowns for Hamburg.

The game was the first for the Hawks under new coach Jeff Chillot.

Baer finished with 85 yards on five carries and three catches for 84 yards. Mason had 40 yards on three carries.

Menapace finished 9-for-14 for 186 yards.
