Discovery FCU makes donation to Adalyn Rose Foundation

SPRING TOWNSHIP – Discovery Federal Credit Union recently hosted a Community Appreciation Month during the month of July. The month included events and activities to celebrate and give back to the Berks County community — a shredding event, ice cream day and a hot dog day, for example.

As part of its commitment to supporting local initiatives, Discovery FCU pledged to donate $20 to the Adalyn Rose Foundation for every new checking account or loan opened during July.

The community responded with enthusiasm, the financial institution said in a press release, and by the end of the month, Discovery was able to donate a total of $2,100 to the foundation.

The Adalyn Rose Foundation, a local nonprofit, provides comprehensive and continuous support to families grieving the loss of a child at any time during pregnancy, infancy, or early childhood, according to the release. The foundation’s mission is to walk with families through every step of life after baby loss, from the first moments and all those that follow.

“This year we enthusiastically took the idea of ‘Member Appreciation Day’ and expanded it to invite the entire county for events throughout the month,” Michele Smith, president/CEO of Discovery FCU, said in a statement. “Our Community Appreciation Month was a fantastic opportunity to show our gratitude to our members, meet new friends, and support a wonderful local organization like the Adalyn Rose Foundation.”

Headquartered in Spring Township, Discovery Federal Credit Union is a community-chartered credit union that has been serving the Berks County area for 65 years. The credit union offers a wide range of financial services to meet the needs of its members.
