District 3 cross country: Oley’s Ryan Gourley wins 2A boys race; Conrad Weiser boys, Gov. Mifflin girls qualify for states

Oley Valley junior Ryan Gourley won the Class 2A boys race at the District 3 Cross Country Championships in Newville on Saturday.

Gourley ran 16:11.5 for the 5,000-meter course to beat Cody Lusby of Octorara by 12 seconds.

Gourley was fifth last year in 16:53.1 on the same course, and will lead a contingent of runners n Nov. 2 from Berks who qualified for the PIAA Championships in Hershey.

Conrad Weiser’s boys and Gov. Mifflin’s girls teams each finished second in their respective races and qualified for the state meet.

The Scouts were second in the Class 2A boys team race with 121 points to Annville-Cleona’s 62 and qualified for the state meet.

In girls 3A, the Mustangs scored 218 points with Manheim Township winning with 126.

In the girls 3A individual race, Gov. Mifflin senior Lydia Drago finished sixth in 18:29.1. Dallastown’s Leah Navarro won in 17:55.8.

Julia Leady of Daniel Boone was 10th in 18:53.4, Twin Valley’s Riley Servis was 12th in 19:01.0, and Gov. Mifflin’s Melissa Sweigart was 13th in 19:02.6.

Gov. Mifflin’s other scoring runners in the girls race were Molly Orndorf 36th (20:00.1), Allie Darrenkamp 75th (20:44.7) and Grace Kerschner 108th (21:09.4).

The top five teams and top 25 individuals not on those teams qualified for the state meet in Class 3A. In Class 2A, it was the top three teams and 15 individuals not a qualifying team.

In the girls 2A race, Schuylkill Valley’s Mabel Walborn finished fourth in 19:58.6, and Tulpehocken’s Abigail Gehris was 15h in 21:06.1.

In the boys 2A race, BCIAA champion David Giles finished fifth in 16:40.0, and his teammate Cameron Cohen was eighth in 16:49.9. Wyomissing’s third runner Jace Carwll was 12th in 17:00.5

The Scouts put three runners in the top 25 and five in the top 41 to punch their ticket to Hershey.

Logan Feeg was their first finisher, placing 14th (17:04.1), Aiden Igielski was 16th (17:07.6), Jio Garcia was 23rd (17:17.2), Carter Winand was 35th (17:42.5) and Caden Stoltz was 41st (17:57.6).

In the boys 3A race, Gov. Mifflin’s Garrett Hyneman was 8th (15:53.2), Exeter’s Chase Choudhry was ninith (15:56.4) and Twin Valley’s Frankie DiSilvestro was 17th (16:11.7).
