Downtown Reading Advances to Public Voting for $120K Grant for Free Music Series

GoggleWorks Center for the Arts is now in the running to bring a free outdoor music series to Reading starting in 2026. With funding from the Levitt Foundation — a national funder that supports the largest free outdoor concert series in America — Reading hopes to qualify as a finalist to receive a Levitt Music Series Grant. The public is urged to support GoggleWorks’s proposal by participating in the public voting process.

There are two easy ways for the public to cast their vote: online at levitt.org/vote or by texting the keyword READING to 877-409-5525. The deadline to vote is Monday, Sept. 15, at 5 p.m.

GoggleWorks submitted the proposal for Reading to present the free music series in its new Thorn Alley Stage on its campus, which opens on Friday, Oct. 3, with a performance by SNACKTIME in Philadelphia. The proposal is now posted on the Levitt Foundation website, where the public can vote and learn more. The number of online and text votes received for GoggleWorks will be one of the key factors used when the Levitt Foundation determines the grant recipients this November. The 50 finalists will be selected through the online and text-to-vote public voting phase. The Levitt Foundation will then review the top proposals to select the final recipients, which will be announced on Tuesday, Nov. 18.
