The Eagles made a trade Monday, though it wasn’t a blockbuster deal for a defensive back.
The Eagles shipped defensive tackle Kentavius Street and a 2025 seventh round draft pick to the Atlanta Falcons for a 2024 sixth round pick.
Street (6-2, 287) appeared in all eight games and registered four tackles. The North Carolina State product was a fourth-round pick of the 49ers in 2018.
The Eagles have made inquiries about a small handful of Broncos players, among others, the cast including linebacker Josey Jewell, safety Justin Simmons and cornerback Patrick Surtain II, per reports. The speculation is that it would take two first-round picks to acquire Surtain.
The Eagles obviously need help in the back end of their defense and at linebacker. Sam Howell of the Commanders shresded the Eagles for 397 passing yards and four touchdowns in a 38-31 Birds triumph. Commanders receivers were running free all afternoon.
Considering how many teams make mistakes drafting in the first round, that sounds anything but a dealbreaker for a club like the Eagles. The Eagles wound up selecting wide receiver DeVonta Smith when cornerback Jaycee Horn (Panthers) and Surtain came off the board in 2021.

Though Eagles right guard Cam Jurgens is eligible to come off injured reserve this week, it sounds like they won’t rush his recovery from a foot injury.
The Eagles don’t need to fast track Jurgens because Sua Opeta has done a commendable job starting the last four games. Sirianni tap danced around the health of Jurgens.
“He’s done a good job of rehabbing,” Sirianni said. “He’s done a good job getting himself in position to put himself in position to see if he can play this week. Obviously, there is a lot that has to go on this week for us to feel comfortable with that. We’re hopeful. That doesn’t mean I’m saying one way or the other. I don’t know. But we’re hopeful that he can start practicing this week, but we’ll see.”
Defensive tackle Jalen Carter, who injured his back Sunday, likely escaped a more serious issue or the Eagles wouldn’t have traded Street. Carter was in and out and Washington. He finished with one quarterback hurry on 17 snaps.
“Jalen feels better today, I’ll say that,” Sirianni said. “And, again, want to get him on the field to see where he is. He feels better today. That’s a tribute to him getting in here and getting treatment and also our trainers.”
Tight end Grant Calcaterra is in concussion protocol.

The Eagles (7-1) can put the Cowboys (5-2) firmly in the rearview mirror when they get together Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field. The Eagles opened as 3-point favorites.
The Cowboys aren’t tearing it up, notwithstanding their 43-20 win over the Rams last week. But the Cowboys are plus-6 in turnover ratio with seven giveaways and 13 takeaways, including nine interceptions. Cornerback DaRon Bland has a league-leading three pick-sixes.
The Eagles are minus-3 in turnovers with Hurts having 11 of their 13 giveaways — eight interceptions and three lost fumbles. Hurts has just one turnover-free game, in the first meeting with Washington.
