PHILADELPHIA — The Eagles could be without defensive tackles Fletcher Cox and Marlon Tuipulotu, and guard Cam Jurgens when they take on the Los Angeles Rams Sunday at SoFi Stadium.
Cox has a back injury that necessitated his having an epidural injection, according to the NFL Network. He sat out the Thursday practice along with Tuipulotu (triceps) and Jurgens (foot). Cox hasn’t missed a game due to injury in seven seasons.
Sua Opeta was outstanding in place of Jurgens, the right guard, who was hurt in the first half of the Eagles’ overtime victory over the Commanders. Tuipulotu played 11 snaps last week.
Limited at the Thursday practice were wide receiver/kick returner Britain Covey (concussion) and safety Sydney Brown (hamstring). Safety Justin Evans (neck) and wide receiver Quez Watkins (hamstring) were full-go.
If Covey isn’t cleared to play the Eagles could turn the punt return duties over to Quez Watkins, Olamide Zaccheaus or Greg Ward, the latter of which would have to be activated from the practice squad. Then again, the Eagles are allowed just two activations from the practice squad and the favorites are punter Braden Mann and newly signed nickel back Bradley Roby. The work around would be signing one of the two, or someone else to the activate roster.

If any Eagle should be upset about not getting the ball enough it’s tight end Dallas Goedert, who has 13 receptions for 88 yards on 19 targets.
No team, not even the bombs away Dolphins, target wide receivers in the pass game as much as the Eagles, who throw to wideouts 65.5 percent of the time. The Chiefs, in contrast, throw to wide receivers just 46.1 percent of the time.
Goedert’s 6.8 average yards per catch is tied for third-worst among tight ends. Keeping him company are Zach Ertz of the Cardinals and Chigoziem Okonkwo of the Titans.
Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown has a team-leading 43 targets with 29 receptions for 414 yards (14.3 average) and two touchdowns, DeVonta Smith 29 targets, 22 catches, 284 yards and two scores.
Tight end Jack Stoll has two targets and one catch for six yards.

Eagles left guard Landon Dickerson, who was ruled offside on the Tush Push last week, took it with a grain of salt.
“My takeaway was I talked to the officials,” Dickerson said. “I know there was something a couple of weeks ago about my hand placement, where they wanted it on the ball. I asked them, ‘where can my hands be in relation?’ And they told me behind that back tip of the ball. So, I placed my hands behind the back tip of the ball. They call what they call. It is what it is. You can complain about that. I’m sure people complain about calls for other teams we play. It’s football. Some can argue there’s a penalty on every play. It just depends on what the referees are seeing and assessing.”
