The Funk Road bridge in Colebrookdale Township is closed until further notice, PennDOT announced Tuesday. A recent inspection of the structure showed significant deterioration and scour to the bridge support walls.
Funk Road traffic is being detoured on Route 73 and Ironstone Drive. PennDOT officials warn to expect delays and are asking drivers to use caution in the area.
The Funk Road bridge over a tributary to Ironstone Creek is a concrete encased, steel I-beam structure built in 1934. It is 23 feet long and 14.2 feet wide. The average daily traffic on the bridge is 1,558 vehicles, according to PennDOT.
