Eight Berks boys tennis doubles teams to play in District 3 Tournament

Eight Berks boys tennis doubles teams will begin play in the District 3 Tournament Friday at Hershey Racquet Club.

Two Berks teams are seeded in the 16-team Class 2A draw. Wyomissing’s Sawyer Helgeson and Peter Folga are seeded second; Conrad Weiser’s Jio Garcia and Reed Kopcik are seeded fourth. Also making the field are Kutztown’s Blake Nolte and Otis Engel, and Brandywine Heights’ Nate Burger and Brian Sexton.

In the 16-team Class 3A draw are Berks champs Jackson Bonds and Dylan Bonds of Twin Valley, Exeter’s Teddy Snyder and Jake Tryanski, Reading High’s Zach Schrader and Joel Rodriguez, and Wilson’s Will Hill and Ben Winkler.

In Friday’s first round, which begins at noon, Helgeson and Peter Folga will face Trinity’s Andrew Tran and Jose Centenera, Garcia and Reed Kopcik will meet Camp Hill’s Clayton Herb and Ducky Mueller, Nolte and Engel will face Annville-Cleona’s Simon Domencic and Samuel Domencic, and Burger and Sexton will take on Lancaster Mennonite’s Reece Girdharry and Will Stillman

In Class 3A, Bonds and Bonds will face Elizabethtown’s Trent McBride and Steven Dupler,  Snyder and Jake Tryanski will take on Red Lion’s Andre Nadeau and Cooper Wheeler, Schrader and Rodriguez will meet Hershey’s Jesse Mullins and Charlie Horner, and Hill and Winkler will face Southwestern’s Alex Guy and Mason Neiderer.

The quarterfinals also will be held Friday,

The semifinals in both classes will be held Saturday at Hershey Racquet Club starting at 1. The finals will follow.

The top three teams in each class earn berths in states.
