Event forges interest in age-old craft of blacksmithing

The Pennsylvania Artist-Blacksmiths’ Association held its annual Blacksmith Day Saturday at Old Dry Road Farm in Lower Heidelberg Township.

Activities at the free event included forging demonstrations, a hands-on instruction area for the public, children’s activities, and a forging contest among the blacksmiths.

Association members were on hand to discuss the craft of blacksmithing and display and sell their handcrafted metalwork.

About 200 people from Pennsylvania and neighboring states belong to the association. Some are professional blacksmiths or metal workers, while others are artists or hobbyists with an interest in the craft. Learn more at paba-site.org/.
