Exeter advanced to the Berks Boys Volleyball League final with a 3-0 victory over Wilson in a semifinal Saturday at Reiffton.
The Berks I champion Eagles (17-0) won by game scores of 25-13, 25-14, 25-10 to advance to Tuesday’s final against defending champ Gov. Mifflin at Reiffton at 7 p.m.
The Mustangs (13-3) beat the Brandywine Heights 3-0.
Leading the way for Exeter were Jack Forry, who had 18 assists, four aces, five digs and one block; Gaige Gabriel, who had 12 kills, two aces, three digs and one block; and Chase Nugent, who had seven kills, eight aces and six digs.
“We have maintained a week-by-week, game-by-game focus all year,” Exeter coach Matt Hadley said. “Today was no different. We had one goal in mind and that was to beat Wilson. We were focused from the start and our level of play this evening showed that. Wilson is always a very well-coached team and we knew we would have to play at a high level to beat them.
“Tuesday night will be no different. Mifflin is a very talented and a very well-coached team. They return their entire team from their county championship run last year and they are the defending champs for a reason. We will be ready to go and I expect it to be a high energy, highly competitive matchup. It should be fun.”
For Berks I third-place Wilson (7-11), Aiden Hunter had eight kills and two aces; Ian McKee had six kills; and Nic Skaf had six kills and two aces.
