Fast-moving storm Friday downs tree and wires on Spring Street in Reading

A fast moving storm Friday afternoon uprooted a large tree in the 100 block of Spring Street just outside Reading’s Centre Park Historic District.

The fallen tree crushed two vehicles, damaged a house and brought down wires, leaving residents in the vicinity without power and closing the road in the block from about 4:30 p.m.

Crews from Treesmiths Utility Arborists and Cut Above Vegetation Services were called to the scene.

No further information was immediately available.
