Fleetwood salutes veterans

The Fleetwood American Legion, Post 625, held its annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 30.

The parade runs through the Borough of Fleetwood with stops at two cemeteries to honor the veterans in each, then concludes at the Fleetwood Park for a Memorial Day Ceremony including the laying of the wreath in honor of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, said Chris Young.

During the ceremony, master of ceremonies was Jeff Wolfe. The Rev. Nancy Clark was the Chaplain for the event and gave a prayer at each cemetery. Liz Graybill, who is founder of Veterans Making A Difference, was the guest speaker.

Rick Moyer from Fleetwood Legion presented William Spotts the Legionnaire of the Year Award. Fleetwood Council of Community Organizations President Kelly Ebeling Schaeffer awarded John Rothermel the winner of the Fleetwood 150th Anniversary Logo Contest. Fleetwood’s 150th anniversary is 2023.
