Flood watch issued for Berks, all of southeastern Pa.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Berks County and the I-95 and I-78 corridors.

The watch runs from 1 p.m. Friday until midnight.

It reads, in part: “Showers and thunderstorms are expected to spread into the region this afternoon and evening. The showers and thunderstorms will be capable of producing locally heavy rainfall totaling in excess of one to two inches, which may lead to areas of flash flooding.

“Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.”

Expect humid conditions during and between the showers and storms with temperatures in the 70s.

A cool front is expected to come through the region early Saturday, pushing away the clouds with a westbound wind turning to a north wind during the day and a high in the mid-70s.

A warming trend is in the forecast over the following days, with sunny skies and the daily highs peaking Tuesday in the low 90s.
