Former Wyomissing football star Alex Anzalone, a starting linebacker for the Detroit Lions, broke his left foreman Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaquars and will miss six to eight weeks, according to reports.
Detroit head coach Dan Campbell told the Detroit Press on Sunday that Anzalone’s injury will force him to miss at least six games.
Anzalone, who played collegiately at the University of Florida, was drafted in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints.
He played for New Orleans for four seasons before signing with the Lions in March 2021.
He has 56 tackles this season, including a season-high 13 against the Rams on Sept. 8.
Anzalone, 30, a 2013 Wyomissing graduate, was a key member of the Spartans’ 2012 state championship team.
The Lions are 9-1 and beat Jacksonsville 52-6 on Sunday.
