Four Berks athletes to compete in Penn Relays

Berks Catholic senior Brady Mider, the defending PIAA Class 3A champion in the shot put, will compete in the Penn Relays in Philadelphia on Friday, April 26, it was announced Tuesday.

Mider, an Iowa recruit, placed fourth last year in the Penn Relays with a distance of 58-11 1/2.

He won the state meet a year ago with a heave of 59-9 3/4.

The boys shot put begins at 9:30 a.m.

Wyomissing will have three boys in the javelin competition at 10 a.m.: Collin Niedrowski, Dew Forrey and Isaac Focht, all seniors.

In a tri-meet in March against Tulpehocken and Berks Catholic, Niedrowski threw 167-4, Focht threw 162-4 and Forrey threw 158-7.
At last year’s PIAA championships at Shippensburg, Niedrowski placed sixth in the Class 2A javelin at 176-2 and Focht was 10th with a 163-10.

The Penn Relays will be April 25-27 at Franklin Field at the University of Pennsylvania.
