Four Berks high school players are named to Pennsylvania roster for Big 26

Four Berks County high school players have been selected to the Pennsylvania roster for the annual Big 26 Baseball Classic set for July 14-17 in Harrisburg, it was announced Friday.

Alex Kelsey and Deven Sheerin of Exeter, Tyler Minick of Gov. Mifflin and Kannon Zdimal of Twin Valley were named to the Pennsylvania team, which will play Maryland in a three-game series at FNB Field and will participate in a pro-style workout for college coaches.

Minick, an infielder and pitcher who’s committed to UConn, was selected to play in the Big 26 Classic for the second straight year. He was named the Berks Player of the Year this season after helping the Mustangs win the Berks I title and reach the District 3 Class 6A semifinals.

Kelsey, an outfielder and pitcher, and Sheerin, a pitcher and infielder, helped Exeter reach the PIAA Class 5A Tournament.

Zdimal, a pitcher and infielder, led Twin Valley to the Berks and District 3 Class 5A playoffs.

Minick, Sheerin and Zdimal are rising high school seniors. Kelsey is a rising junior.
