A number of organizations and businesses around Berks County are doing their part to make sure everyone has a happy Thanksgiving.
Here’s a list of free holiday meals and food giveaways in the area:
Tuesday
• The Salvation Army will hand out free Thanksgiving meals on Tuesday starting at 7:30 a.m.
• Hope Lutheran Church, 601 N. Front St., is providing Thanksgiving food from its pantry to those in need Tuesday starting at 9 a.m.
• New Heightz Grocery Store, 209 N. Sixth St., will be giving away free turkeys Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. The grocery store will also host a free Thanksgiving meal Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m.
Wednesday
• The Conner Kleffel Memorial Annual Thanksgiving “Count Your Blessings” meal giveaway will be held at Leesport Farmer’s Market, 312 Gernants Church Road, on Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Take-home meals will be provided to anyone who needs one.
• New Heightz Grocery Store, 209 N. Sixth St., will host a free Thanksgiving meal Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m.
Thursday
• The Boyertown Salvation Army, 200 West Spring St., Boyertown, will host an in-person, sit down meal starting at noon Thursday.
• Fat Boyz Pizzaria, 953 N. 12th St., will host a free Thanksgiving meal Thursday starting at noon.
• Haymakers, 709 Walnut St., is hosting a free meal for all members Thursday from 2 to 5 p.m. Call 610-373-1844 for reservations. Free take out meals will also be provided for people experiencing homelessness.
• Holy Trinity Church of God, 130 W. Buttonwood St., will host a free Thanksgiving meal Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon.
• Hope Rescue Mission, 645 N. Sixth St., will host a free Thanksgiving meal Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It is open to all.
• Kennedy House, 532 Spruce St., will host a Thanksgiving meal Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome.
• Opportunity House, 430 N. Second St., will host a Thanksgiving meal on Thursday at 3 p.m.
• St. Johns Baptist Church, 435 S. Seventh St., will host a free Thanksgiving meal Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Friday
• Providing Hope, 624 Maple St., will provide free to-go Thanksgiving meals Friday from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The event is sponsored by Riverfront Federal Credit Union.
Saturday
• Glory to Glory Church, 15380 Kutztown Road, Kutztown, will be holding a ham and food giveaway Saturday from 2 to 3 :30 p.m. Preregistration is required at G2GPA.org.
• Salem U.M. Church, Sixth and Main streets, Shoemakersville, will host a free Thanksgiving dinner Saturday starting at 4 p.m.
Sunday
• Common Ground Recovery Community at Trinity Lutheran Church, 527 Washington St., will host worship and a free Thanksgiving meal Sunday. Worship will begin at 2 p.m. and the meal at 3 p.m.
