Funeral, viewing plans announced for former Reading mayor

Reading officials have announced viewing and funeral plans for former Mayor Joseph P. Kuzminski, who died Thursday at the age of 94.

Public viewing will be held on Thursday, Sept. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kuhn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be held Friday, Sept. 3, at 10 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church, 322 S. Fifth St., Reading.

Following the funeral there will be a procession through Reading along a route covering Bingaman Street, Penn Street and City Hall. It will end at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Millmont, where the burial will take place.

Kuzminski was elected mayor in 1975 and served until 1980. He was a member of City Council from 1960 to 1976 and served on the Reading Area Water Authority from 2008 to 2013.
