Gov. Mifflin’s Gerhard named Berks boys water polo Player of the Year for third time

Gov. Mifflin senior Ben Gerhard was voted the Berks County boys water polo Player of the Year for the third straight season.

Gerhard, who earlier was voted Pennsylvania’s water polo Player of the Year for 2021, helped the Mustangs to a third-place finish in this year’s state tournament.

Gerhard had 125 goals and 16 assists for the Mustangs.

Joining Gerhard on the All-Berks team are Gov. Mifflin’s Mason Woolwine, Matt Novotny and Tedd Stabolepszy, Wilson’s Kagen Boettner, Chadd Corson and Isaiah Eberly, and Reading High’s Tristan Hertzog.

Novotny had 50 goals and 32 assists and Woolwine had 27 goals and 27 assists. Stabolepszy was the goalie for a Mustangs team that went 20-7.

Boettner was the leading scorer with 109 goals and 20 assists for a Wilson team that finished fifth in the state tournament. Corson had 62 goals and 65 assists and Eberly had 31 goals and 15 assists.

Hertzog had 139 goals and 34 assists for the Red Knights.

Gov. Mifflin’s Kyle Kuser was voted the Coach of the Year.
