Grandview Gallery Exhibit to Feature Artwork by Legendary Wilson Coach Roy Snyder

The Wilson School District will host an opening reception — which is free and open to the public — at the Grandview Gallery on Saturday, Nov. 22, from 1-4 p.m., featuring the artwork of longtime Wilson swim coach Roy Snyder. The exhibit, titled “2026 Calendar Tribute to Wilson Schools – Yesterday and Today,” showcases Snyder’s colorful paintings depicting the nostalgia and architecture of Wilson schools past and present.

While best known as one of the nation’s most successful and longest-serving high school swim coaches, Snyder is also a talented artist. His new collection reflects his deep connection to the Wilson community and passion for preserving its history through art.

Proceeds from the exhibit will support two local causes:

• Calendar sales benefit the Wilson Education Foundation, which funds programs that enhance student experiences, support teaching excellence, and strengthen community engagement.
• Original artwork sales benefit the M.J. Snyder Scholarship Fund, established in memory of Snyder’s late wife, Mary Jane Snyder, a beloved Conrad Weiser teacher. The scholarship supports future educators and Wilson Aquatics student-athletes.

“Coach Snyder’s artwork celebrates what makes Wilson so special — our people, our schools, and our shared history,” said Joe Palumbo, gallery director. “This exhibit is not only a tribute to his artistic talent but also his lifelong commitment to the Wilson community.”

The Grandview Gallery, located in the administrative wing of Wilson High School at 2601 Grandview Boulevard, has served as a community art space since 2001. Originally the school library, it was transformed into a gallery during the high school’s renovation in the late 1990s to showcase the work of students, alumni, faculty, and local artists.

Those unable to attend may support the fundraiser by purchasing a 2026 calendar online. Note: Original artwork will be available for purchase in-person only.
