Hamburg’s Mia Gassert finishes second in District 3 Class 2A singles in girls tennis

Hamburg sophomore Mia Gassert finished second in the District 3 Class 2A girls tennis singles tournament Saturday at Hershey Racquet Club.

The top-seeded Gassert fell to second-seeded Sienna Castelli of Lancaster Country Day 6-4, 6-1 in the final to finish as the runner-up for the second straight year.

Gassert beat Lancaster Catholic’s Joanna Rabada 6-2, 6-2 in the semifinals earlier Saturday to earn a berth in the PIAA Tournament.

Castelli beat third-seeded Carina Roberts of York Catholic 6-3, 6-0 in the other semifinal.

The state singles tournament will begin Nov. 4 at Hershey Racquet Club.
