On Friday, July 18, Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank participated in a statewide day of service organized by Feeding Pennsylvania and America250PA. Volunteers joined events at food banks and pantries across the Commonwealth in order to support Pennsylvanians experiencing food insecurity.

Several noteworthy individuals joined the group of regular volunteers at Helping Harvest’s Mobile Market at the Fairlane Village Mall in Pottsville. Those in attendance included Cassandra Coleman, Executive Director of America250PA; Terese Casey, Director of Development of America250PA and wife of former U.S. Senator Bob Casey Jr.; Tim Twardzik, PA State Representative of the 123rd District; among others.
Volunteers at the Mobile Market unpacked, organized, and distributed food directly to neighbors experiencing food insecurity.

In 2015, Helping Harvest began its Mobile Market program in which low-income residents of Berks and Schuylkill counties receive nutritious produce, dairy, meats, and more. The 23 Mobile Market sites provide food year-round. All food is distributed directly to hungry neighbors by Helping Harvest staff and volunteers. Last year, Helping Harvest’s Mobile Market sites distributed food valued at nearly $4.5 million.
