The high school sports season kicked off last week with several Berks athletes starring for their schools. Here’s some of the top performances for the week:
Football
Wyomissing sophomore Justice Hardy scored four rushing touchdowns and recorded 117 rushing yards on 12 Carrie’s to help lead the Spartans over Southern Columbia.
Golf
Daniel Boone junior Chase Yenser shot an even par 79 at Reading County Club to lead the Blazets to a 321-330 victory over Tulpehocken.
Boys soccer
Fleetwood senior Tanner Smith scored a goal to help lead the Tigers to a 3-0 season-opening boys soccer victory over Quaker Valley. Fellow senior David Millisock and junior Corbin Walker also scored a goal to lead Fleetwood to a 3-0 season-opening boys soccer victory over Quaker Valley on Friday.
Girls soccer
Daniel Boone senior Sophia Hogan scored two goals to help lead the Blazers to a 4-1 win over Garden Spot.
Girls tennis
Berks Catholic senior Sarah Schnatz won her No. 1 singles match by scores of 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 to help lead the Saints to a 6-1 win over Blue Mountain.
