‘Hope for the Holidays’ auction to be held in Orwigsburg

A Hope Auction to benefit Sisters’ Hope Foundation will be held Dec. 4 and 5 at the Masonic Lodge at 1000 E. Market St., Orwigsburg. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

The “Hope for the Holidays” event features raffle baskets, 50/50 drawings, Kids’ Craft Corner and a chance to meet Santa Claus and his elf.

Food available includes pierogies, halupkies and hot dogs along with a variety of baked goods and a pink lemonade stand. A hot chocolate bar will be sponsored by Twisted Sisters Ice Cream & Handmade Chocolates

The Pennsylvania-based Sisters’ Hope Foundation works to increase awareness and understanding of adult-onset leukoencephalopathy with axonal spheroids and pigmented glia (ALSP), support those living with or caring for those living with ALSP, and creating connections for the ALSP community. Its mission is to see the first survivor of ALSP.

ALSP is a rare neurological condition caused by a genetic mutation. It is characterized by symptoms of reduced cognitive function and mobility.
