Jefferson Grange to offer free photos with Santa Claus

On Friday, Dec. 17, Jefferson Grange will welcome Santa Claus for one of his last appearances before he heads back to the North Pole to prepare for his busy Christmas delivery schedule.

From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., the Grange will offer free photos with Santa for kids of all ages, according to President Rachel Brobst.

The event will be held at the Schuylkill Haven Recreation and Community Center, 340 Haven St.

“We have a great relationship with Santa, and he’s excited to meet the good boys and girls of our area to make sure he has their last-minute gift choices on his list,” Brobst said.

While Santa may be the main attraction, Brobst said she hopes those who are able will come to contribute to the causes the Grange has taken up.

The Grange has partnered with Schuylkill 4-H to collect slightly worn or new coats and jackets for the One Warm Coat project and with Schuylkill Hope to collect new pajamas for people of all ages and genders who use the services of the organization.

Jefferson Grange is also collecting nonperishable food items, personal hygiene and baby products to give to local food banks or cash donations that will be used to purchase perishable products such as meat and eggs from local farms to include with the donation.

In addition, Grange members will be selling homemade baked goods, Pennsylvania State Grange apple butter and cookbooks to benefit the organization and its many charitable endeavors.

“We’re just proud to be part of this community and make a positive impact where we can,” Brobst said.

This is the kickoff to a Jefferson Grange holiday celebration that includes door-to-door caroling in Orwigsburg on Tuesday, Dec. 21, and in Schuylkill Haven on Wednesday, Dec. 22. Anyone is welcome to join the group starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Community Parking Lot in Orwigsburg and Bubeck Park in Schuylkill Haven.
