The Walk In Art Center is decorating for the holidays with several weeks of great events that end with what will be the biggest and grandest holiday party of the season — the Jingle Mingle & Final 3—on Dec. 11 in the Main Gallery of the Schuylkill Haven center.
This is the WIAC’s major fundraising event. There will be the usual silent auction items, food stations by Carmelo’s Roman Delight, music from the Radioactive Munsters and complimentary wine, beer, and a signature holiday cocktail.
The twist at this year’s event is that attendees will vie to be one of the “Final 3” and will be in the running to win $1,000 each.
“They call this kind of a “reverse drawing” and it’s a fundraiser that grows every year when it’s done,” said Jacquie Engel, WIAC executive director. “When we discovered that there really isn’t a big Christmas or holiday party in the area, we really wanted to jump on this opportunity to get all dolled up and maybe even walk away with a bonus.”
The three winners can opt to stick it out until there is just one winner who wins $3,000, but organizers believe that most likely people take the grand and run.
“Actually, we’ve made it possible for people to brighten the Christmas of nonprofits in the area,” Engel said. “The winners can, of course, take the money themselves, or they can donate the money to a Schuylkill County nonprofit of their choice — and it doesn’t have to be the WIAC!”
Here’s how the Final 3 works. Attendees are given a number (sponsors are given two numbers for each attendee) and every 15 minutes a batch of numbers are pulled. People do not want their number to be pulled because they want to be one of the Final 3.
“The event really gets people to stay to the end to see who the winners are,” Engel said. “People root for their friends who are still in it, and the fun keeps going all night long.
Tickets for the event are $75 for individuals and $125 for couples. $50 of each ticket is tax-deductible and includes complimentary adult beverages, food, music and dancing. To purchase tickets, visit walkinartcenter.org and click on “event registration” or call 570-732-3728.
