The Berks County Parks & Recreation Department continues to present programs promoting nature, history, and outdoor activity throughout the month of May 2025.
Saturday, May 3 | Wildflower Walk | 9 a.m. @ Antietam Lake Park, Angora Trailhead
Walk the trails at Antietam Lake Park to discover ephemeral spring wildflowers throughout the park.

Saturday, May 3 | Spring Salves and Tinctures Workshop | 9 a.m. @ Bingaman House
If you enjoy learning about medicinal plants, this workshop is for you! We will be demonstrating how to make salves and tinctures, as well as showing what plants help with different ailments.

Sunday, May 4 | Wildflower Walk | 9 a.m. @ Gring’s Mill
Walk the Union Canal Trail to discover ephemeral spring wildflowers throughout the park.

Monday, May 12 | Second Monday at the Wagon Works | 11 a.m. to noon @ Berks County Heritage Center
The Berks County Heritage Center is offering guided tours of the Gruber Wagon Works from 11 a.m. to noon on the second Monday of the month.
Adults are $7, seniors are $6, and students are $5. | Registration is required.
Monday, May 12 | Full Moon Hike & Yoga | 7:30 p.m. @ Berks Leisure Area
Take a few deep breaths, a downward dog or two, and relax for an easy intro session of yoga before heading out onto the Union Canal Trail to take in the moonlight.

Tuesday, May 13 | Trail Tales | 10 a.m. @ Bingaman House
This toddler-age program focuses on a nature topic each month, partnered with a story and a craft. Geared towards children ages 3-5.

Saturday, May 17 | Family Fishing Day | 9 a.m. to noon @ Antietam Lake Park
Join Parks Staff and Rangers as they enjoy a morning of fishing fun! Learn how to tie fishing knots, try your hand at casting, and see if you hook the big one! No experience or tackle necessary. No fishing license required. All rods, bait, and tackle will be provided.

Sunday, May 18 | Schuylkill Navigation Bicentennial | 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. @ Berks County Heritage Center
Join canal historians and hobbyists as the Berks County Heritage Center hosts a history symposium and display event. More information is available at waterhistoryphl.org/2024/09/schuylkill-navigation-bicentennial/ or by calling 610-374-8839.
The museum will be free and open to the public. Lectures will have a fee, and registration will be required.
Saturday, May 24 | Visible Mending Workshop | Noon to 3 p.m. @ Berks County Heritage Center
Join Parks staff as they learn how to “make do and mend”! Learn basic stitch techniques, patching, and pattern transfers.
$10/person. | Registration is required.
