Kutztown High School inducts two into Athletic Hall of Fame

Amy (Fister) Brandeburg and Jeffrey Zimmerman were inducted into the Kutztown Area High School Athletic Hall of Fame on Dec. 20.

Brandeburg is a 2013 Kutztown graduate.

While on the rifle team here at Kutztown, she competed in the Junior Olympics in Colorado Springs three years, winning the finals in 2011.

In 2012, she won the PA State prone championship, second in expert, and the State Woman Championship.

In 2013, she captured the Interscholastic high school 3 position Smallbore Rifle State Championship. She also claimed gold at the NRA Air Rifle Championship, setting NRA national records.

After high school, she attended the University of Memphis and qualified for the NCAA all four years.

During the 2013-14 season, she was a member of the Memphis squad that placed fourth in the NCAA championships. She was awarded All-American and honorable mention status while at Memphis.

Brandeburg was a member of the Memphis 3.0 Tiger Club, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and is studying to become a physician’s assistant.

Jeffrey Zimmerman

Zimmerman is a 2005 Kutztown graduate.

He was a multiple sport athlete, participating in tennis, basketball, cross country, and soccer while earning 11 varsity letters.

He excelled in tennis, being named to the All-State Team in 2004 and 2005. He won silver in doubles in 2005 and was the flight 3 singles champ in 2003.

He has a career record in singles tennis of 52 wins and only 5 losses.

In basketball, he was all-division in 2005 and in soccer he was team leader in assists for his 2004 KAHS team that qualified for states.

In cross-country, he was named to the All-division team in 2001 and 2002, while also qualifying for districts.

Zimmerman continued in sports, coaching for more than 19 years. He has coached Kutztown boys varsity, JV, and middle school basketball, the Optimist Program, girls middle school basketball, girls tennis, and the boys fourth grade 2-2 at the state basketball championships in 2023.
