A PennDOT spokesman said the emergency work to fix uneven concrete slabs on Route 222 between the Spring Ridge and Broadcasting roads interchanges in Spring Township will continue Friday for an indefinite period.
The right lane of southbound Route 222 is closed beginning at the onramp from Spring Ridge Drive. Southbound traffic can use the right lane all the way to the long exit ramp for Spring Ridge Drive/Van Reed Road; motorists who want to exit shouldn’t merge into the left lane.
Sean Brown said crews are working as long as needed to make the southbound lanes safe for travel. He couldn’t provide a completion time or date. An update will be announced when available, he said.
PennDOT announced the emergency repairs and lane restriction about 1 p.m. Thursday after the problem was discovered. It wasn’t immediately clear what caused the problem but ramping of the concrete slabs has been going on for several years due to wear and tear.

Expect delays if traveling southbound on Route 222. A heavy police presence was observed at the start of the lane closure just south of the Route 183 interchange in Bern Township.
