Large-scale regional art exhibit opens at Walk In Art Center

The sixth annual Keystone Fine Art Juried Exhibition opened on Friday, April 1, at the Walk In Art Center, 200 Parkway in Schuylkill Haven.

The public can view the show until the closing ceremony on April 16. There will be complimentary refreshments, musical performances and award presentations for the winners at the exhibition.

“We have added a few new elements to the exhibition,” said WIAC Executive Director Jacqueline Engel. “Visitors can vote for their favorite, and the piece will win the new People’s Choice Award. We have also added a sculpture category this year, which is a category we’d love to see grow over the next few years.”

Works in six categories will receive $200 for first place and $100 for second, she said, adding, “It really is a great opportunity for an artist to have their work seen.”

Jason Travers, professor of art at Lehigh University, served as juror for the exhibition.

Winners at the exhibition will be announced at the Awards Reception, which starts at 1 p.m. on April 16. Refreshments will be served, and musician Steve Mazur will be performing.

The exhibit can be viewed weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. through April 16.
