Christine Flowers’ Jan. 18 column (“An appalling reaction to Melania Trump’s mourning”) regarding people mocking the former first lady’s grief upset me also. As Flowers indicated, It was cruel and repellent. Trump didn’t deserve those comments as she was processing the loss of her mother.
While all of this is abhorrent, I need to remind Flowers that Melania Trump’s husband is the nexus of the violence, sarcasm and nastiness we see in our country today, and he continues with it each and every day.
I certainly can side with Flowers on this. Melania Trump doesn’t deserve this disrespect, but I hope Flowers will also see and remember who has brought these feelings upon our country, as repugnant as they are.
