Editor:
Many parents have become fed up with their school boards. resulting in an unusually high volume of write-in-candidates throughout Berks County. These write-in candidates are parents, grandparents and taxpayers who are fed up with their school boards trying to implement left-wing equity policies influenced by critical race theory. They are tired of mandatory masking. They are tired of boards and superintendents who allow teaching from a one-sided, biased perspective.
Parents are tired of fiscal irresponsibility. They are tired of large tax increases when inflation is soaring and many seniors can barely afford their housing costs let alone exorbitant school taxes. These parents are tired of boards that don’t seem to remember who pays for the schools. And it is the children of these parents who are being affected by misguided policies and attempts at indoctrination.
These parents are committed to taking back their schools by winning board seats and then hiring superintendents who are better aligned with higher community standards and values this country was founded upon.
In response to “Keep culture wars out of Wilson School District” (Reading Eagle, Oct. 28), the 1776 Project PAC supports candidates who oppose false history narratives in schools. It produces and distributes mailings without contact with the candidates. However, candidates who receive this attention can be proud of it.
Many write-in candidates are top-notch. Among them are Craig Stonaha, Val Delp and Mehgan Epler for Wilson School Board. It is time for a change. This year I will only be voting for write-in-candidates.
