Letter: There’s much power in what we have in common

There’s a large group of people, I think, that we never hear about. I am a member of that group, and probably you are, too.

In this group there are members who oppose vaccination, think government is full of corruption and believe in conspiracy theories. In this same group there are liberals who think President Joe Biden is doing a good enough job and have confidence, overall, in our governing institutions.

We may or may not be members of a religion, but most of us believe in one God who is the power governing all. The sun will rise. Days will pass. We aren’t in charge.

We believe deeply in the importance of affections, family ties and loving one’s neighbor. We believe in negotiation, compromise and cooperation. There’s power there.
