As a graduate of Mount Penn High School (now Antietam Middle High School), I was saddened to hear of the devastation caused to the school in summer flooding. But what was much more troubling was the response from people in a neighboring school district (“Resident’s comments on students condemned,” Reading Eagle, Dec. 14). This narrow-minded thinking has no place in our society. And it is our duty to point this inexcusable behavior out and forge ahead to create unity among all.
If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything. It’s time to stand up and put an end to this racist mindset. These children are our future. Let us give them the nourishment they need to prosper and grow.
