Outrage, disbelief, disappointment, sadness, empathy. After reading the testimony given by four U.S. gymnasts to the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on the FBI’s handling of the Larry Nassar investigation, these emotions are present. It is heart-wrenching to see and hear the pain these women and girls have endured and continue to abide.
We must fix the system that failed them and hold accountable those responsible for their suffering. Larry Nassar may have been ground zero, but those who stood by and did nothing are equally culpable.
It is essential that everyone, no matter their job, position, involvement, must be a watchdog to stamp out abuse. In Pennsylvania, we have a mandatory reporting law for child abuse. We are all responsible for keeping our most vulnerable safe from predators and abuse.
For more information, visit KeepKidsSafe.pa.gov. Do your part to stop the abuse.
