Longswamp hosts 6th annual Swamp Fest June 8

Longswamp Township Parks and Recreation will host its 6th Annual Swamp Fest at Longswamp Township Park on Saturday, June 8.

A big hit with the crowd last year, Swamp Time the swamp monster will return for this year’s Swamp Fest.

The day opens at 7 a.m. with a Mush Ball Tournament. Topton Ambulance will be selling breakfast during the tournament.

The all-day event includes vendors, crafters, a community yard sale, bands and children’s activities.

Longswamp UCC and Redeemers Bible Fellowship Church will offer children’s activities in the Kid’s Zone, which includes face painting, a bouncy house and crafts.

The Swamp Monster & Toad Costume Contest for ages 0-18 will be held at noon. Prizes will be given out for the best costumes so come dressed as the Swamp Mother, Swamp Monster or Toad.

Other activities include Brandywine Community Library’s story stroll with their mascot Sheldon held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Longswamp Township Historical Society Open Caboose and Gift Shop from noon to 6 p.m., Puddin’ Heartland 1st pot belly pigs painting a master piece from 2 to 4 p.m., a Lehigh County K-9 demonstration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Crafters Row all day and Make Your Own Fly for fishing with John Hanzl from noon to 5 p.m.

New this year will be a bat rescue demonstration from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and snuggling with a goat hosted by Stone Farmstead Goats from 1 to 3 p.m.

Food will be available for sale by local clubs and organizations, including Topton Ambulance Company, Longswamp UCC, Longswamp Pack and Scout Troop 575, Redeemer Bible Fellowship Church, Longswamp Lions Club, and Topton Fire Company.

A highlight of Swamp Fest will be live music performed by two bands. New this year, Son of Izzy performs from 2 to 5 p.m. Returning this year, The Large Flower Heads perform from 6 to 9 p.m.
