Low Levels of Legionella Detected at Berks County South Campus

From County of Berks

As part of the routine water testing program at the South Campus, the County of Berks was informed Monday afternoon of recent water test results that indicated a low level of Legionella bacteria at the South Campus facility at 400 E. Wyomissing Ave. in Mohnton. The County will conduct remediation efforts on Tuesday, including water system flushing and additional water testing. The County is following the remediation recommendations of the testing laboratory.

The County of Berks has decided, in an abundance of caution, while remediation and testing are taking place, to provide temporary bathroom facilities and potable drinking water. County staff will not be required to vacate the campus.

The following entities offer services out of the South Campus facility: the Area Agency on Aging, Assessment, Mapping, the Workforce Development Board, the Planning Commission, the Industrial Development Authority, the Berks County Redevelopment Authority, Community & Economic Development, the Book Bonanza, County Archives, and the offices of Magisterial District Justice David Yoch.
