The spark on defense ignited the crowd and Berks Catholic took over at Malvern’s 16-yard line. Two quick runs by Christian Cacchione got the Saints inside the 10, then Josiah Jordan scored on a 3-yard run to tie it with 1:03 left in the first quarter.

The Friars took the lead on a 15-yard run by Nash in the second quarter that was set up by his 14-yard run.

At 14-7 with 7:37 left to go in the half, the Saints couldn’t get their run game going and were forced to punt for the fourth time. The Friars took over on their 45 and Wright scored on a 35-yard run on third-and-3.  A missed extra point by Reedy made it 20-7.

Reedy opened the second-half scoring with a 26-yard field goal.

The Friars were able to pull away midway through the third quarter when Capaldi connected with wide receiver Shawn Stocker on a 63-yard pass, which led to a 9-yard touchdown reception by Wright to make it 30-7.

A few possessions later, Berks Catholic cornerback Marvin Armistead intercepted a pass from backup quarterback Bryce Pippen in the end zone.

With 2:26 left, Anthony Czarzasty capped the scoring with a TD run.
