Master Watershed Stewards to host webinar

The Penn State Extension Master Watershed Steward Program is hosting its fourth annual Native Tree and Shrub Sale this August. Leading up to the sale, the program is hosting a webinar to help residents learn more about the fundraiser and the species included this year.

The free webinar is scheduled for Wednesday, July 26, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Penn State Master Watershed Stewards and Master Gardeners will review the plants that will be available in the upcoming Annual Native Tree and Shrub Sale, discuss selecting plants for specific properties and conditions, and provide order and pickup information for the August sale.

Registrants will also have an opportunity to submit questions in advance about choosing the right tree or shrub for their property.

Organizers said planting native trees and shrubs is a powerful way to turn a landscape into a wildlife wonderland while improving local stream health and water quality, but choosing the best species can be challenging.

The Master Watershed Steward programs of Berks and Schuylkill counties, Erie County, and the PA Wilds are hosting this webinar.
