The Residence at Village Greens

The Residence at Village Greens has expanded its leadership team with the addition of three new members with local ties as the senior living community prepares for its grand opening this summer.

Berks County residents Jenn Fick, Tina Boyer and Dan Walter will play pivotal roles in shaping the new community, scheduled to open this summer in Sinking Spring.

Born and raised in Berks county, Fick will serve as the director of independent living operations. She attended nursing school and eventually began working in senior living in 1988. With her husband, Fick owned and operated a local hearing aid business from 1996 until selling it in April.

Boyer has been named administrative services director for The Residence at Village Greens. She brings more than 16 years of experience in senior living care while serving as a business office manager at another local senior community.

Boyer has lived in Berks County her entire life and said she is eager to be a part of the state-of-the-art new senior living community at Village Greens.

Walter has been named safety and maintenance engineer for the new community. He has lived in Berks County since 1978 and moved to Douglassville 10 years ago. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, he retired from teaching. After a brief tenure at UPS, Walter joined IntegraCare-operated Exton Senior Living as safety and maintenance engineer. After spending more than a year at Exton, Walter joined the team at IntegraCare’s new community in Sinking Spring last month.

Herbein + Co. Inc.

Kristine (Kris) Bashore has joined the firm of Herbein + Co. Inc. as vice president and practice lead on Herbein’s HR consulting team.

In this role, Bashore will manage the team’s HR operations and strategy group, and focus on strategic planning and project management initiatives centered on human resources, organizational and leadership development, and marketing. With more than 30 years of wide-ranging HR leadership experience, she is a valuable addition to the firm.

Prior to joining Herbein, Bashore served for more than 23 years at Caron Treatment Centers, a leading, internationally recognized non-profit dedicated to addiction and behavioral healthcare treatment, research, prevention, and addiction medicine education. In her final position as Caron’s chief operating officer, she led day-to-day operations, overseeing human resources, training, professional development, quality, compliance, risk management, admissions, facilities, regional services, marketing, and business development.

Earlier in her career, Bashore held senior management positions in human resources with a pharmaceutical company and a regional financial institution.

Bashore holds a BA in economics from East Stroudsburg University and is a Senior Certified Professional with the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). She is also an active member of SHRM.

Saxton & Stump

Melissa Jabour has joined the law firm of Saxton & Stump as a senior counsel attorney in the healthcare litigation and commercial litigation groups. In her 10-year career, she has worked with clients in medical malpractice, medical device, and product liability cases at a premier plaintiff-oriented law firm. She will now represent healthcare providers, medical professionals, and other healthcare entities as well as work with our growing commercial litigation team. She will work in the firm’s Lancaster office.

She was previously a partner at a Lancaster-based firm, where she developed experience in strategizing and analyzing cases, drafting pleadings, preparing witnesses, assisting with arbitrations and mediations, and handling negotiations.

Jabour is a member of the board of directors at Lancaster Dollars for Higher Learning, an organization that provides interest-free loans to Lancaster County students to support their post-secondary goals. She is also the vice chair of the Lancaster Bar Association Professionalism and Ethics Section.

Jabour is a magna cum laude graduate of the Temple University Beasley School of Law and a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.

Optimal Dispute Resolutions

Steven D. Costello, a healthcare litigator with nearly 40 years of experience, has joined Optimal Dispute Resolutions as a mediator and arbitrator. Optimal assists individuals and businesses with resolving their disputes outside of the courtroom by offering alternative dispute resolutions (ADR) including mediation, arbitration, and consulting.

Costello is an active advocate of litigation prevention and mitigation strategies. He has decades of experience in healthcare and has worked with numerous Fortune 500 companies and major hospitals, long-term care facilities, and insurance companies. He is an active member of local and national associations, including the Pennsylvania Bar Association, where he served on the alternative dispute resolution committee, health law committee, and the interdisciplinary committee on medical and health related issues. He also has served on the Long-Term Care/ALF committee for the Defense Research Institute. In addition, he is a Fellow of the Academy of Advocacy and Master of the American Inns of Court.

Costello earned his J.D. from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey School of Law. He has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America list since 2017. Best Lawyers named him “Lawyer of the Year, Medical Malpractice Law — Defendants” on both the 2022 and 2024 lists in the Philadelphia region. He also has been designated a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer as published in “Philadelphia Magazine” and named a Select Lawyer in the Lehigh Valley.
