North Penn defeated Wilson 7-4 Saturday night in the Pennsylvania State Water Polo League girls championship game in the Roy G. Snyder Natatorium.
North Penn scored first and never trailed in its second win in four years over Wilson in the state championship game.
Wilson closed within two goals at 6-4 midway through the fourth quarter on a goal by Avonlea Lechleitner. But North Penn answered on its next possession and relied on its defense to close out the victory.
Kayla Dietrich, Morgan Valeriano and Mikayla Arthur also scored for Wilson (22-4).
Second-seeded Wilson advanced to the championship game with an overtime victory over third-seeded North Allegheny. Fourth-seeded North Penn downed top-seeded Cumberland Valley in the semifinals.
